According to the latest data from the international data company IDC, in the first quarter of this year, the global shipments of smart phones increased by 7.8% annually to 289 million units, among which the shipments of Apple's iPhone phones decreased by 9.6%, to 50.1 million units, and the market share dropped to 17.3%, while Samsung Electronics took the "number one" position again with a 20.8% market share.
However, Samsung's shipments also decreased by 0.7% annually.
In the third place in the market is Xiaomi (01810), with a 33.8% increase in shipments to 40.8 million units and a market share of 14.1%. The fourth place is Transsion Holdings, with a 9.9% market share and the fastest growth in shipments, reaching 84.9%.
According to earlier data from IDC, Apple's market share in 2023 was 20.1%, competing for Samsung's 19.4% market share.
IDC Research Director Nabila Popal said that although the shipments of the companies in the top two positions both decreased in the first quarter, Samsung's overall position seems to be stronger than in the past few quarters.
